Angry 95 GA Starting Problems

I have a 95 GA quad 4 150k miles. I have a strange starting problem.
It turns over fine but it will not start right away. It will run for a sec or two then die. This will go on for about 20 minutes {I keep trying about every 5 minutes } After cranking it for 20 min it will start and run fine ?
I have replaced the coil pack/fuel filter/ The plugs look fine.
It will run fine for the rest of the day. This only happens when the car sits for more than 8 hrs.
ANY IDEAS ??

Bad fuel pressure regulator and leaking injectors sound like they are causing your problem. Once you get everything primed and the pressure comes up to normal then the car will run OK. I would change the FPR first. Cheapest thing to change to see if it starts any better. If not you may need to change the injectors.

Re: 95 GA Starting Problems

What about replacing the injectors? If the FPR is currently working properly and you changed the fuel rail then the problem either lies with the fuel injectors themselves or the ECM that controls them. I would also check to make sure you don't have a fuel pump problem not that the FPR is working properly. Check the fuel pressure prior to turning the pump on and then check it while the fuel pump is running and you are attempting to start it. If you get a large pressure drop you may end up replacing the fuel pump too.

Re: 95 GA Starting Problems

Before dropping the gas tank and trying a new fuel pump i tried a new Idle air control valve and so far it seems to be working. Thank you for all of your help again
