New to site

Hey found this site thought someone might be able to help and answer some questions?I already read your engine swap guild but wondered if any of you own a dx and just worked with what you had as for as the engine goes.Is it worth building up all aspirated?Cause i was just gonna go ahead and just start throwing mods on and see how it goes from there on.I have great car knowledge and have already built up a prelude and now decided to move on to my civic.I actully already have a motor for it but already from seeing your swap guild that it's too much money cusomption,And i work at a parts distributer warehouse and i feel i still would'nt be able to do swap.Thanx for your time

Re: New to site

Depends on how much power you're looking for. If you don't go forced induction, you're not going to get much out of it. Even the Si would be a little better to work off of.

Welll i was first gonna do internals engine rebuild then port-polish, 4-angle vavle job, bigger crank, cams, pistons. Then open up airways as to,bigger throttlebody and manifold, bigger fuelrail,421 headers. Then put on a stage 3 clutch and stronger tranny.I already have 2 1/4inch exhaust piping with no cat or resinador with an focuz muffler and aem intake.I upgraded my ecu with an jun racing preprogramed one and threw on a B.M shortthrow shifter.Thats about where i'll stand with the DX,some feel it's a little obserd,Its either that or the engine i have to swap in my brother left for me.It's gonna cost just around the same figure weather i pay for my spare engine to be swaped in or just sup up my DX about 2grand!!!Well let me know what you think,I appreciate your post and time dealing with matter.Thanx..AKIRA

Re: New to site

If you're going to do all that work and have to take the engine out anyways, you might as well swap it out for something that is already better. And doing all that work (btw what crank are you thinking of?) would probably net you somewhere around the hp of a b16a, but would be less reliable than the stock b16a. What is the other engine you have available?

its a h23a, all i know about it is that my brother got rearended before he went overseas, he swore its jdm,He said F it take it,so i did.He told me to put h22a head on it and that that'll alone would be a 255 hp or some sh-t like that.I own a 85 prelude and suped it up to hell but never heard of something like this.It came out of his 99 prelude SH,It was the secound motor he had in it.He blew his first one then got the one i now own .He spent like 4500 grand on it,And it was shiped to a seaport. That's about all i know about this thing not to mention the tranny is shot!I've had offers and trades for it so i know theres something special about it.Don't want to get rid of it though has sentamental value to me.So let me know.Thanx a bunch for all your help

Re: New to site

hmmm... $4500 seems a realy lot for an h23a, does it say vtec on the valve cover? Cause there is a H23a vtec, but it's pretty rare. But either way, adding an h22a head won't give you all that much more hp (maybe 210/220hp). But it seems weird that he put that in his SH. The SH has a traction control system, and the only other engine I know of that shares that is the H22a Type S.

But yes, the swap would be fairly expensive. But...if you've got all the major parts (engine, tranny, shiftlinkage, ecu) then that would cut down on your cost quite a bit. It really depends on what you have for it already.

It's a non V-tec prelude engine from okusa japan (susposivelly). It's a 97 or 98 it has jappense writing on it so i don't understand a damm thing it says,(BUT) I know ir's not v-tec that's why he said to put on a h22a head with V-tec controller.???????? said best frankinstein swap for lude or civic out there.I know i need integra axles with accord parts to go with, welded motormounts and stronger of course.Speed shop here in daytona beach said that i can't have powerstiering which DX's did'nt come with and no AC unit what so ever.Said steiring would be a bi-ch cause heavy engine for civic.I'm stumped!! Who knows confusing huh?

Re: New to site

You're not going to get torque from a Honda engine. If you want torque and high rpms, then the GS-R is the way to go.
