1984 5 speed trans

is a 1984 5 speed trans interchangeble with a 1986? thanks edsel...

Tranny interchange

Mazda started improving the design of their manual transmissions in 1984. I would have to see a picture to see if it will interchange, if it is still the 1st gen casing and input shaft it wont' work. If you have an option I would not use an 84 tranny either way. I would only go with one from 85 and newer.
