Costs of Painting

Hmm im wondering how much it would cost to paint a car. Teal green accord to a black. Colors dont matter but im just curious. Range from a decent job to really good paint job. Anyone know the range or state how much they paid to paint car.

Re: Costs of Painting

decent = ~$1000
Really good = ~2500-3000

this is assuming you dont do prep or body work, and if you dont know anyone.

Re: Costs of Painting

what if you sanded all your old paint down and removed like the rear tail lights and such? when you say "decent" is that like fresh from the factory quality or worse?

Re: Costs of Painting

my "decent" job is a 50/50 job (driving by at 50mph or at 50 feet away it looks great, but once you get close you can see small imperfections) and obviously is you did some prep work yourself (assuming the shop doesnt have to re-do it cuz you suck) it will cut the cost down.

Hmmm what's your idea for "decent" paint. I mean factory paint isnt all that great looking but does last a REAL long time compared to another paint job. And "imperfections" meaning like what? Paint globs?

And how could you prep up the car yourself? Like primer it yourself or.. like what? I havent done this, im just curious.

Re: Costs of Painting

preping is getting rid of all the dents and scatches if you want a better paint job you would remove all the windows, interior, moldings, lights and anything else you dont want painted

Re: Costs of Painting

could even go as far as priming the car so all the shop needs to do is paint it.

Re: Costs of Painting

you also have to remember that if your gonna change your car's color, there are also door jams and and engine bay that dont just change colors with the car and the door jams and trunk trim are a bitch to tape up and the engine......well i dotn know if thats even worth it. imperfections can be anything from paint runs to dust or a bug landing on the paint while its still wet. youll see more imperfections depending on the color. silver is really hard to spot dents and imperfection on but on black they show up really well.
