When things break, they fuckin break.....

Yesterday was a great day. First, i was going to check to my oil and fluids and all that, and as I opened my car, my handle broke off. I was like ok, I can handle that I guess. It's common enough, so w/e. More mod money going to repairs.

So I crawled in through the passenger side, and went to pop the hood, and the hood release cable snaps. What are the odds of this happening the same day as my door handle!!??. The plactic handle thingy is still there, but the cable is loose. God damnit. Now I can't open my driver door, and I can't get under the hood. SWEET. Needless to say, I slam my door, lock the bitch up, and go inside to lift weights and pound my stereo. Bad day.

I'm thinking around a $250 field day at mitsubishi on tuesday, after all is said and done, because I don't have the patience to replace the door handle myself, and the hood release is just too cramped in space for me to bother, I will just get frustrated and break something else. Good thing I just got paid

lol... that does sound pretty shitty!! I think we all have had days like that before. At least you can still drive your car and all... kinda have to laugh it off and look at the glass as half full and not half empty... Good luck bro!

Re: When things break, they fuckin break.....

hey dont feel bad... i have to redo my timing... after i just put it all back togeather... seems i am blind and missed it by 2 teeth. god. i just bolted it back up 3-4 days ago.

hey it doesn't end there! for my birthday (today) my wife was paying to have the 14B rebuilt as a surprise - she acctually took the thing off without me even knowing it because it has to have timing redone and i haven't tuched it in a few days (yes, she helps me with my car and even races it at autocross some!!) - well i just got a call from them yesterday that said they broke it (?) and i was like wtf? i didn't ship a turbo to be rebuilt! then they told me a girl droped it off and gave them my name and number!! lol. free turbo out of it though! a new new one! lol. but i have to wait 2-3 weeks.

Hmmm...I am gonna guess that was a typo.

Dude, it is a DSM, stuff like that is to be expected. At least your car still runs! I hope things work out.

Unhappy

I had a horrible day. Ready for this dumbASS mistake I made. It was like 4 months ago and I just got back form a great weekend of skiiing. I decided I check my anti-freeze while the engine was cold(hence I didnt drive it all weekend). I pop my hood and then my sister starts talking to me so I run into the house come back out and I had to go grab something at wawa for my mom. I forgot I hit the hood release earlier,so im driving on the way back from wawa, I decide to floor it becuase I havent driven it for a few days...air gets under the hood and it SMASHED MY WINSHIELD AND BENT THE HELL OUT OF THE MY ROOF. I needed a new winshield and a new hood. The roof still has a couple dents. I was so mad. And it still sucks to think back or see my dents.

Ok guys heres the damage:

New door handle: $75 (painted)
New hood release: $20
Total Labor: $190
Total Cost: $285

Why the hell is labor so much? It was quoted as being like 2.5 hours of labor, thats like $75 an hour! That seems like quite a bit to pay for labor to me, even for a dealer. I might just try doing the door handle myself, now that i see that they are not only gonna stab the knife in me, but then twist it around too.

Re: When things break, they fuckin break.....

I replaced my door handle about a month ago, it wasn't that hard. Just be patient and take your time, and follow the article on vfaq.com.

The hood release shouldn't be that hard either. And by doing these repairs yourself you can save almost $200.

Re: When things break, they fuckin break.....

you guys think you had bad luck this weekend, at least yours is repairable.

so I was headed down to the lake for the 4th of July on sunday night. i took off from my house at about 930 at night, 3 hour drive. i figure i'll get there at midnight, sleep for the night and get up early and hit it hard on the 4th. WRONG.
as i drive down interstate (it's about 11:00 now) i start hearing a little tapping noise. the closest town is about 2 miles away so i figure i'll drive it there and check it out. about a mile away from the exit, my car starts slowing down as i'm giving it more gas, but it won't go faster, it's losing power. ass of a sudden BANG. i see a little orange streak in my rear view mirror and then start smelling smoke. THEN i start seeing the smoke coming from my vents and shit. but this wasn't any old smoke, it was fire smoke. i pulled over as fast as i could and as soon as i got stopped, a huge flame shot out from under the hood. great, my car's on fire. so i opened the hood and sure enough, the whole engine bay is engulfed in flames. i got everything worth anything to me and threw it about 50 feet behind the car. luckily enough a trucker pulled over and had a fire extinguisher and put out most of the fire. i called 911 and the fire department and police came out and put out the rest of the fire. i called AAA to have a towtruck come get me and he finally rolled in around 12:30. we loaded up my car (busting the shit out of my bodykit) and took it home. by the time i got home it was 2:30 in the morning.

I went out to look at my car today and found that the battery had exploded, causing the fire AND there was a nice 2"x2" hole in the front of my block.

So basically this weekend my car burnt up and i blew the motor. Luckily enough for me i only have liability so insurance doesn't cover a damn thing.

GOD I LOVE DSM'S!!

I retract my bitching about the busted door handle and hood release, because that is about the worst thing i've heard happen to a car in a long ass time. How the fuck did the battery explode for no reason? Dude that is really shitty, that's like a 1 in a million type of thing. I feel really bad for you, i will happily pay the $285 and thank god that wasnt my car after hearing that. Glad your ok.
