AC System Removal question

Hey all. I would like to remove the entire AC system from my 91 metro. The system hasn't been used in a few years, and i never use it, so i want to remove it. Since it hasn't been used in a few years, would it be ok to unbolt everything and remove it without discharging the system? like maybe keeping all lines attached to various parts or something? trying to save money here. thanks in advance!

Re: AC System Removal question

to remove it you have to disconnect the hoses, might check and see if system has pressure in it anymore. find a fitting on one of the lines that has a stem like a tire. use a small nail or something like that and push center in, if it hisses and some stuff comes out you have pressure in the system and should have it pumped down somewhere to remove the freon. if its empty just take hoses off and remove the rest. i would leave the part under the dash, just remove the pump and hoses and condensor core
