starting prob with my cavalier

12177235 omron thats the part number...does anyone know what all this part does?
i can get the car to start if i take out that relay and jump the red wire to the other red wire...but the car dies after a few seconds....anyone know whats wrong
all fuses are good.all connections are good,battery is good...the car will start when i jump the 2 wires...but why does it shut off?when i turn the key over i cannot start it...it does nothing...the only way to start it is to touch the wires together...i really need to fix this...i am packed up and need top leave for florida today...but i cant get the car to run
