taillight fuse

I have a 98 1/2 ton silverado, and the fuse for the taillights and dashlights will sometimes blow while I am driving, and if I try to replace the fuse when it blows, it will keep blowing until the truck sits turned off overnight, then will be fine for a while. Heres where it gets strange for me, I installed a remote starter a couple of years ago, and when you lock the doors, the park lights flash and the dashlights flash like they should. but while the fuse is blown the lights will still flash when the doors are locked using the remote. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you've got a wire getting hot/drawing to much current popping the fuse. The alarm system hooks a wire to lights after your fuse and still provides the positive charge to the wire giving you a "Tail Light Alarm Confirmation." What other add ons are in your truck that could be hooked to that system possibly aftermarket radio, radar, etc? If you have too much draw on that part of the system it will continue to pop. If there are no add ons then you might have a wire grounding or coming loose some where. Check for chaffing of the wires and bad connections.

i would find out what all is controlled by that fuse and start testing each one until you find the problem. there could be a bad component. also check your taillight bulbs make sure they are not broke or cracked. and the wiring on the plugs at the taillights see if they are pinched or split. just a few thoughts

Fixed, thanks for the help.
The grille was not clipped in completely on the drivers side, and could shake around pretty easily, and along with the grille shook the drivers side park lamp assembly. I guess after a lot of miles of flapping around in the wind it wore a small section of coating of one of the wires and a small section of paint off the frame where it was rubbing on. taped the wire and pushed the grille in tight and its as good as new.
