307D Timing Chain Adjustment

My glorious mercedes van is coming up to the 100,000 mile mark.

To keep it running in good order I need some advice on tensioning the timing chain.

Where is the tension adjusment located ?
How do I adjust the timing chain ?
How will I know when the tension is correct ?
Do I need any special tools ?

Mark

Hello, easy job, just abve the altenator is a large nut, unscrew and the tensioner is inside. use an allen key to remove tensioner and spring and replace with new. not sure of the tension to tighten but that will depened on the engine you have fitted. i have done quite a few and tighten to nip up and 90 degrees with no probs so far ovwr the last 15 years or so
cheers
