Question 95 buick skylark idle temp

ok i diddnt pay any attention to this till i blew the radiator, it could have been old or it could have been too much pressure so the radiator is new the heater core is new and it has a new cap. while idling it will go just a smidge over 220 before the fan kicks on and it needs to be idling in place for awhile before this happens. so my question is this... is this the normal operating temp for this car or should it be lower and what would be my best course of action water pump or thermostat or both? or none of the above? id rather not dish out another 200 bucks for another radiator

Re: 95 buick skylark idle temp

Well I have a 93 skylark and I had the same problem with mine. I changed the thermostat to a lower temp one and it seemed to help.
