IAT sensor

Having trouble locating a chiltons or haynes repair manual for a 2002 celica GT. Trying to locate the IAT sensor, not sure if it is wired separtely or with the mass air flow sensor. I know it's after the airbox, but there's quite a few wires and plugs in that area.

The sensor will have 2 and only 2 wires running to it. That is one way to tell. I can e-mail some pics to you of what a 91 IAT Sensor looks like if it might help. If interested e-mail at [email protected]

Re: IAT sensor

if your asking this because u bought one of those "speed chips" off ebay then just throw it away and forget about it. if you are not thun it should be in ur airbox somewhere.

Re: IAT sensor

i dont know about yours but i bought one and it was a piece of shit it made my car slower actually. you can try it but dont get ur hopes up. i guesss theyre all the same though its just a resistor that supposedly tells your ecu that there is colder air going into your engine than there actually is. if it does anything for you i will be suprised.

It is a 100 k ohm resistor if you got it off ebay. I knew what they were and went to radioshack and got one for like 15 cents to try. It actually gave me a lot more punch in the first three gears. I was surprised. Then I told this guy who is fixing up a nissan altima I could get him a speedchip for $20 sold him one of my cheap resistors, it did nothing for him except make his check engine light come on. HA HAA HAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

IAT sensor

So, does anyone know or have a site to go to that shows pics of specific engine parts. I bought it, so, I guess I'm gonna try and install it. If it doesn't work, then I'll reset the fuses and such forth. Regardless of what happens, you'll be the first the know

If you wanna post your e-mail I have a pic of exactly what the 5th gen sensor looks like, I'm guessing it hasn't changed much. E-mail me at [email protected] if you want the pic, other than that I don't know what to tell you, sorry.

Re: IAT sensor

why would you want to lie to your engine and make it think that the air going in it is colder...just do it properly and add an intake thats either a true cold air intake or a ram air intake with a hood scoop positioned directly over it.

note thata i wrote " I might try" just wanna see what kind of effect it really has. They don't make a cool air intake for my car so i'd have to make my own or just go without. also the way it is set up there isn't much sense in adding a ram air scoop because it would look kinda stupid where it would need to be located on the hood. thanx 4 the advice though all the same.
