engine swapping

i have two geo metros that i would like to swap engines in. one is a 93 geo metro and the other is a 97 geo metro. the engine in the 97 froze up so i want to put the 93 engine in it. is this possible? the information to the 93 is VIN: 2C1MS24X6P6735573 1.0 L 3 Cyl. and the information for the 97 is VIN:2C1MR2265V6720278 1.0 L 3 Cyl. Thank You for your help in advance.

The only dif is that the '97 requires a crank position sensor. The holder is part of the block, so no you cannot use the earlier motors.

Re: engine swapping

you can swap it over but you have to change the entire front of the motor, the intake and exhaust. on the front of the motor the oil pump is different, the 97 has the crank angle sensor and so is the cover and cam gear. if old motor is froxe up oil pump may be bad too. rather than changing everything and puying a new pump look around for a 96 or newer motor, not to hard to come by usually
