Looking for a AMP
I've been looking around for good sub to put in my firebird. people have suggested the RE series and i think they would be a good choice. i want to put 2 RE 10's in a box. each sub is:
10" 175 RMS watts dual 4 ohm now i need a amp to power the subs. i need some recommendations that would fit the specs of the subs. as far as budget, i was looking around at profile amps. i saw that they're around 60$-80$. so anything around there is good. thanks.

Re: Looking for a AMP
here's how you'll wire it to 4ohm
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftec...x=21&image.y=6 the only problem i see right now, is that you may want more power than just the 160 watts for both subs. |

Re: Looking for a AMP
well, each sub can only handle 175watts rms. so i dont wanna go over that. right?

Re: Looking for a AMP
right, but what i'm saying is that one of the amps you are looking at is only going to put out 160 watts. the wiring diagram up there shows two woofers hooked up. so, the amp would theoretically be pshing 160 watts for two subs, or like 80 watts a sub. im pretty youd want a little more

Re: Looking for a AMP
well, the amp is a 2 channel amp that has 160 watts PER channel. so its like each sub is getting 160 watts.
should i get a amp that puts out about 200 watts per channel?

Re: Looking for a AMP
i jsut did a dual RE12 install using an Hifonics NX400, 200WRMS per channel, 2ohm. and it sounds pretyt awesome. and the RE's can tale 250W, but not for extend periods of time. and keep in mind that you only get 160W when its @ full volume, so make sure your speakers and handle full volume.

Re: Looking for a AMP
i found a profile AP 1200 that puts out 200rms watts at 4ohm. so would this be a good amp to get?

Re: Looking for a AMP
If each sub can handle 175 watts RMS you would want an amp that puts out about 350 watts RMS.
Here are your options. 1. get a mono sub amp that puts out about 350 watts RMS at either 2 or 4 Ohms. Use wiring option #1 from the link above for a 2 Ohm load or Wiring option #2 from the link above for a 4 Ohm load. Mono amps are usually stable in both 2 and 4 Ohms. 2. get a 2 channel amp that can be bridged and is 4 ohm stable and puts out about 350 watts RMS in bridged mode. Use wiring option #2 from the link above. Usually, an amp is bridged by connecting the speaker leads to the positive (+) terminal from one channel and the negative (-) terminal from the other channel |

Re: Re: Looking for a AMP
I'm installing two 10" subs and I bought them at ebay for about $50 brand spanking new. I also got an 800W kenwood amp for $80.

Re: Looking for a AMP
profile is over rated, so is hifonics but for your situation id look at Hifonics NX400. its rated at 200w RMS x 2 @2ohm. so wire each subs coils in parallel and then each sub to a chanel.
it'll wand decently hard. RE's are good budget subs. |
