02' spec V vs. 94 gsr 4dr

Sup everyone, well I'm also one of those that is still saving up to a spec V. I drove one when they first came out and i must say, i feel dat power.
N e Ways, this past Saturday,me and my cuz were driving around H-town and this black spec V w/exhaust and intake comes up to us at a light rev'n up his engine. My cuz drives a 94 gsr 4dr w/intake and a muffler. I was for sure that we were gonna get killed but we took him from the start and left him. He got lot's of wheelspin but we got some too. It was cool cuz we won but pissed me off cuz we made the spec V look bad, Hey, that's the car i wanna get and just got whooped by a 16 year old in an 8 year old car w/130,000 + miles. Now my cuz is saying that their slow and that he's gonna kill my ass when i get mine.I'm kinda havin 2nd thoughts cuz if it can't even beat a gsr, then i might have to go with something else. Let me know what ya'll think. L8erz

I just traded my 94 GSR for a 02 Spec-V. The 2 cars will post very similar 0-60 and ¼ mile times. Stock GSR will do about 7.1 to 60 about the same as a Spec-V. Where the Spec-V will dominate is off the line. That is if you can keep the wheel spin under control. The gobs of torque the Spec-V makes outperforms most Hondas out there. But if the GSR gets a better launch you’re toast, especially as he gets into vtec. Also the 17-inch rims the spec-v wears doesn’t help its case. I loved my GSR and there are days I really miss it. It was and still is a great car. But every time I step into my spec-v I totally forget about it. It’s nice being able to pass on the highway without dropping a gear and getting a couple of buddies in the back without having to do the Lambada. Bang for the buck the Spec-V is a winner hands down. In the end don’t let one race sway your opinion.

The Race

My Fellow spec v lovers: WWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPP PPPP!!.

I wanted to share something with ya'll.

When two cars are racing eachother: 50% of the win depends on the car, and 50% of the win depends on the driver.

A little story..... a few years back I bought a 99 subaru impreza 2.5 rs. It was a very nice car, but a little on the slow side.

Now you can ask any one of the people who live here in brampton that race and they will tell you that whenever i raced a gsr, type r even hybrids, almost none of them use to win agianst me, and i f they did it was only be a car max, unless it had mods. Everyone used to scratch their heads and wonder how he heck i did it. And youknow what it was'nt the car. It was me.

When i get my Spec v at the end of may. I will call my freind who owns a 99 gsr (stock) and we will race, and im sure that he gonna get Pumped!!!!

I will keep you posted on any details in the meantime.

Peace.

yeah, i know, the car is bad ass and i know there is gonna be tons of stuff out there for them, it's just that you look at the specs on both cars and would think the spec V would be faster but i guess that 6200 redline doesn't help compared to 8000 for gsr's. I was wondering, what do ya'll think about the new SI, i know it's gonna have lot's of potential, and at first thought it was butt ugly but now, i love it. Also, the new Mazdaspeed protege that's due out at the end of the year, coming turbocharged 2.0L with about 170 hp and 155 lb/ft of torque.

Well the car is still bad ass, i just was a little dissapointed cuz i thought it was faster than the gsr and would give a type r more of a match but i guess not, well stock anyways. I know the spec v is gonna have tons of stuff out for it by the end of the year so that'll make up for it i guess. I went to the auto show this past week and got in the new Si. At first i thought it was butt ugly but now, i love it and the support for the car is gonna be there. I'm thinking about that and also about the mazdaspeed protege, coming 2.0L, turbocharged w/about 170 hp, 155 lb/ft torque. It's basically a MP3 with Boost! Let me know wuz up.
