Question Transmission Cooling System

I am towing a trailer of about 8000 lbs. Ford dealer service agent tells me Expedition already comes with transmission cooling system. With above mentioned towing weight is the factory cooling system sufficient or should I add a heavy duty cooling system to vehicle?

Re: Transmission Cooling System

It sounds to me like your dealer wants to sell you a few reman transmissions.

Before lyou can get any decent answers, we need more info.

Did you purchase this unit new, and if so, do you know if it has the "Trailer Tow package", and if so which one?

If purchased used, did it have a hitch already installed?

Also, what year and engine do you have?

You already do have a transmission cooler built into the expedition. Almost all cars with automatic transmissions do, and with the weight you're hauling I wouldn't be too concerned. If you want to play it safe, though, there are plenty of aftermarket coolers that are simple to install and provide good insurance if you tow heavy loads frequently.
