there has to be a better way for buying an intake than to spend 250 on a name brand cold air intake....what would be a cheaper way to do this?...because i dont want to drop 250 on something thats gonna get me like 4 hp tops..
any links/help are appreciated.
thanks

Get a generic E-bay one and get a good filter for it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634
and then got a K&N filter...that would be just as good as any name brand cold air intake?

possibly...but the 10-12hp gain seems a little high. I doubt your going to get that much hp gain on a CAI. In the end, I hear the name brand gets you more reliability and thats probably the best thing you get for you rmoney. Even if the brand name gets more gain it wont be by a lot.

yeah...i know its not gonna be that much...ill be getting some custom 2.5" piping, and an apexi n1 exhaust, and some kind of cold air intake...and im not expecting more than 10hp..haha...its just something to get me started..i just dont see how that intake (the link i gave) is 25 bucks, and..for example, one from injen or AEM is like 250?...there must be something missing..

If you do have a tight budget than it looks like its in good condition so you should get it.

yeah.. go down to your local advanced auto... or pep boys and buy a k&n cone filter... and i would just order one off ebay...shipping like 20max so its still a 45 dollar cold air intake... theres not gonna be much of a difference between the piping on the intake.. except one may not get as hot or something... after you buy the filter your looking at less than a 100 dollars total... so its the wya to be

It's because companies like AEM and Injen put a lot of time and effort into their design, to get what they feel is the most power gain. Some will give you more high end hp, some will give you low end hp, high end torque, low end torque, higher peak hp or torque, louder sound, deeper sound, etc. As long as you're not building some high hp NA engine (or show car and buy it just for the brand name), then an intake is just an intake.

and then they make another with out the fancy sticker for 200 less.

only intakes that are better are the Js honestly i think AEMs is the worst cause unlike Js aem is just a dnyo queen intake not as much mid or low as brand Xers but more highend so they can claim makes more HP but its only in oh 300 rpm of a power band while they all make about same.
