that is a pretty sik link you sent me however my car is obd0 not obd1..i dont have the obd1 conversion so im a lil confused on what too do
because my stock pm6 ecu doesnt come with vtec it is actaully the sohc mpfi non vtec ecu from 88-91 crx/civic si,i found a thing i think might work from summitracing.com the part # is MSD-8950,will this work?? i could set it to have vtec come on at like 5,200 rpm and then i guess it shuts off if the rpm's fall below *5,200* rpm n comes back on when it hits 5200 again? ( 5,200 using as a example )

Re: how do i run vtec?

You could do it via an rpm pill, but, if it were me, I'd get an OBD I vtec ECU, and a jumper harness, then run the wiring like in the link. Reason being is that vtec is controlled by the ECU and is activated under four conditions
1) vehicle speed, via the VSS (vehicle speed sensor)
2) Oil pressure
3) engine temperature
4) Engine speed

Hooking it up through a pill or switch bypasses these parameters, and can be bad for you motor.

Re: how do i run vtec?

Actually...I don't think you can use it all with an OBD I ECU Pretty sure the distributor will not work. Look around on that site I lniked you too, there's a lot of OBD 0 guys, and a great OBD 0 specific forum, someone there will have a good solution for ya.

Re: how do i run vtec?

you cold also chip it with turboedit. i think they use the ac wire on the ecu to activate vtec. then you can run a vtec map so you dont run lean up top. or you could activate it with a rpm switch and run a vtec map
