No rear Lights or Cluster lights.

Anyone ever had a problem with the 1999 Montana's rear running lights and Cluster lights not working at night. Brake light, headlights and signals all seem to be fine. The problem started out intermitent, then finally stopped working at all. I changed the DRL module with no luck. Any Ideas? I've got the Haynes Manual, and a tester.
Thanks....

Check for a blown fuse. I had the same problem everytime I tried to tow one of my trailers. The trailer was shorting and would blow the fuse. I can't remember which fuse it is.

Could be fuse # 37 (under the hood). I would also check for any dirty connections in the slot that the fuse plugs into. I have a diagram on my site (link below).

Venture/Montana Fuses

On page 12-29 of the Haynes manual I also see the light switch in there. Since my lights come on at night, I don't use it much. There is a possibility that switch has gone bad. Or you could turn your switch ON and see if your lights work that way.

Let us know what you find.

Take Care,

I had exactly the same problem on my 1998 Montana - 20 amp fuse blown - I also think it was #37. I replaced the fuse, but now I have rear light silliness. In reverse, only the left reverse light comes on. In drive, it's a Christmas tree on both sides...is this a wiring/contact problem or a light PCB problem? I just bought this thing and it's giving me fits on the first day. Help!

Thanks in advance

Re: No rear Lights or Cluster lights.

There is a known history of water intrusion and corrosion in these rear light clusters. Units looking almost brand new, one or 2 year old , had to be replaced, in several cases under warranty.

Re: Re: No rear Lights or Cluster lights.

Thanks for your response...after reading this forum I think I'm in for replacing the rear light assys or tearing them apart to look for a ground problem. We've owned this thing for less than a week...daily my wife comes home with another problem. The driver's electric window switch is shot, window won't go up (passenger switch in the same pod works)...the power sliding door needs to be reset; it won't close automatically, but it tries...low coolant light on...abs and traction control intermittant lights on the dash...sticky/stubborn ignition switch...we put a very slight load in the rear (100 lbs) and the load level air compressor kept cycling once a minute. I pulled the fuse for that thing. Do you have any idea how I can reset the whole system to factory default? It's like it's crying to start over.

Even with all these problems I do like it...the body is perfect, good paint, and it handles well compared to other minivans. I just need to get all these little bugs worked out.

Thanks;
Don

No rear lights or cluster lights

Had the same problem. Changed out the DRL Daytime Running Light Module and I'm back in business. Just another in a long list of problems solved.
