Check Transmission Light

We have a 99 Windstar SEL 3.8L and the Check Transmission light came on last week and the o/d light started blinking. No indicators of any problems until the light came on. The van continued to operate just fine. I stopped by a garage and they said to just take the overdrive off & drive smoothly. I did that and have had no problems since.

I just had the transmission fluid flushed in March. The van has 94,000 miles on it.

What should I do?

Thanks

Re: Check Transmission Light

The transmission O/D light flashing is an indication that the computer saw something wrong with the transmission......it is the same as the check engine light coming on for the engine. So there would be a code set. You should try to have the codes read to see what code was set.....the dealership will charge you for this. There are MANY transmission codes....which is a good thing....as they will help to determine what the problem was.
