The next Crown Vic?

What would you like to see Ford do with the next Crown Vic? What is it you want, and what would make you buy it?

4.6L 3V, 4R75W trans, keep both the urban and pursuit gearing options and lighten it about 200#-500#.

Well if they want to stay on top as far as Police Cars go, they are going to have to outdo the new Chrysler P.I. ,built on the new Charger chassis with a 5.9l MPFI Hemi engine. I am waintg to see how it does at the Michican PD trials. Then I will probably go back to CRYCO, had them for 20 years, and they were by far the best PD cars built.

Re: The next Crown Vic?

First; make the DOHC motor available. Big mistake the Merc Marauder. Ford performance fans want a Ford not a Merc. Police grill is better looking than the Stock. Performance handling, HD radiator & Trans cooler. Last some decent paint colors. Not Ma & Pa colors or just black.

Job DONE. you see, the Ford CVPI does not have a nasty habit of the brakes catching on fire, and it built on a time-tested RWD platform that we KNOW can take incredible abuse.

The 3-valve is a FAR superior option, sema power and WAY more Tq which is exactly what you need to get a heavily loaded cruiser up to speed ....Torque!

All those have been STANDARD CVPI fare for well over 10 years.

I see we are still talking about the old FWD Chrysler PD cars. The front wheel drive ones are POS. I am talking about the new RWD, 5.3l (correction by my son not 5.9l) Hemi engine. BTW Ford was NEVER able to outperform Chrysler or Chevy in the day. Meaning the 60's and the early 70's. I like my Ford CVPI, but thats because there hasn't been a decent PD car built to compete with it since 1995.

They need to squeeze more HP out of that 4.6L. Come on I'm sure there is plenty there they can get. And maybe make it more modular ala Scion? Seems that the Crown Victoria is missing a huge market by not paying attention to the "hip" crowd. Add some ghetto package... Tint maybe and a sound system for sure with GPS and monitors. Hey why not it only would have to be an option. Then they could start an advertising campaign for it as revamped or something. Extend the life of the line a little I guess by hitting another market is what I'm trying to say. Lets face it we are driving police/grandpa cars. Maybe they need something revolutionary? Worth a thought anyway

First, Bye Bye 4.6, Hello 5.4!!! of course they would have to change the entire front geometry to do this, and then maybe even put a cowl in the hood to fit it. But as far as chevy and dodge out peforming the Ford, I see the CV going up for sale with 200k miles on them, and oddly the chevy's dont get near that many miles before they decide to take them to the auction....

P.S. it only takes a year to rack up 100k on a police car, and YES the impalla has been out long enough to rack up some miles.
