02` squeaky brakes

I have an 02 grand am SE. Whenever I push the brake pedal, it squeaks and creaks. Everything seems to work fine, but when you push the pedal you get noise. If you move your foot on the pedal when you are stopped, sqeeeeeeak!! Is there a way to stop this or lube something?

Thanks!!

Re: 02` squeaky brakes

Is the noise actually coming from the pedal or from the brake pads themselves? If it is coming from the pedal you can lubricate the connecting point at the pedal with some spray lube. If it is coming from the pads when you step on the brakes then you may need to change the pads as you could be hearing the wear indicators. If the pads aren't worn then you may need to remove the pads and clean the back of the pads and lubricate the mounting bolts. If you lubricate them then you must use brake grease on them as it will not melt at high temps.

Sorry, for the delay in the reply.

It is when I push on the brake pedal, from the front end. If you move your foot up and down on the pedal, it just queaks right along.
