Swapping Engines!!!
Well i have a 1995 dodge avenger with 2.0 ltr Dohc and the engine is well...shot!. so i would like to put a 1994 dodge caravans 3.3 in it its a very strong engine and it makes the van just fly, so i can only imagine what it would do to something half its weight.. i would just like to know what it would take to put that 3.3 into my avenger i really need helpful comments here please no b.s. I really appreciate it i have to do it soon becuz my brother owns a shop and that is where the wrecked van is sittin and hes selling it and i need to get it outta there.... and swap those engines really soon... thanks again!

Re: Swapping Engines!!!
You might want to consider finding a 2.5 Liter 24 Valve V6 Engine from a donor Avenger and drop it in, you get more torque than the stock engine and depending on the year of the engine, a 15 - 23 HP increase over the stock 2.0 I4 you have now. Believe it or not the Minivan 3.3 Engine only has about 10HP more than the 2.0 you have now, your just feeling the torque it has to move that heavy minivan, plus it possibly might not fit in the engine bay or bolt to your Transmission.

Re: Swapping Engines!!!
youd rather have a 2.0I4 than the 2.5 v6 anyway, trust me

Re: Swapping Engines!!!
well ive never heard of anyone putting that minivan engine in an avenger. i doubt it would fit, as you can probably see the engine you have already fits pretty damn tightly. what you should do is get a donor 2.0 and turbo it.

ok well i whent to a custom shop today that does that kinda stuff and they said the engine would fit an bolt right on but the vans tranny is very awkward and wouldnt fit and i would also have to basically use cvs from the van and the avenger becuz o the avengers balanced cvs so thats a no go it was worth a shot though

Re: Swapping Engines!!!
Try looking at dsmtraders.com. Search for 420A and see what pops up. You may be able to find a really cheap engine. If you could describe what your problem is (other than smoke), maybe we can help you fix it and do it cheap.

Re: Swapping Engines!!!
Anything is possible with money. I wouldn't go with the 420a. It might be costie but throw a 4G63 in (Eclipse GST-GSX motor)

OK, the 4G63 engine from the Eclipse 95-99 is not really an option for a swap, the engine swap costs about $6,000. For that amount you could buy a 420a w/ tranny and turbo to get the same if not more hp. Because it's been mentioned a couple of times now I will post a new thread with the costs for the swap.
