add-a-leaf...a few questions

i have a 98 s10 reg. cab 2 wheel drive and i want to put in an add-a-leaf. here are my questions:

where can i get an add-a-leaf, and about how much do they cost

do they affect the ride much?

if the extra leafs raise my rear end, will it affect the front suspension (steering components etc)

how hard are they to install

im looking at getting a little lift in the rear end (1-2 inches) but mainly doing this to increase my payload...and have the ability to put something in my truck without the rear end bottoming out

any help is greatly appretiated

thanks

Re: add-a-leaf...a few questions

add a leifs can be bought at any suspension place, and probably on the internet.
Try Google.com

They will give you a harsh ride, and the ride height will vary from 1 model to the next so I can't answer how much it'll lift your truck.

If it was me I'd just run shackles, and possibly air helper springs if I thought that I needed them.

The job isn't too bad, probably less than 1/2 a day with hand tools

Check the yellow pages for a spring shop, they can re-arc your existing springs to increase your load carrying capability and give some lift.

Thumbs up Add a leaf

What I did to my 2002 s10 was. I wanted my truck to be able to carry something in the bed too without dragging ground, so I checked around and the best thing that I found was to put air shocks on. It added height and know I can also put heavier things in the back and also pull a trailer with out putting the rear to the ground. I foound the shocks at Napa for about $150.00.

another thing that nobody has mentioned about jackin up the back with out doin the front , steering caster , your steering wheel may get a bit more "lazy" after turning , less returnability , if you go over 1-2 inches , this maybegin happening , just a thought
