How to Reset the Outside Temperature

Please somebody tell me how to reset the Outside Temparature and the compass on the above console of 2000 Chevy Venture

It suppose to be 80 degress but it say's 60,

Please help!

There is no "Calibration" for the temperature, as far as I know. I just finished installing a new (different) console & sensor in my 2001 Venture and there is no calibration to be done.

What I suspect is a dirty or loose connection. This is because as the temperature goes up, the resistance value of the sensor (a "thermistor" actually) goes down. And the opposite is true (as temperature goes down, resistance goes up). So if you were to have a dirty connector, there would be LESS contact area and therefore higher resistance value.

I would suggest finding the connector(s) and checking them for dirt and/or anything else that might be causing the problem.

Sounds like your temperature sensor is shot. They are pretty inexpensive at the dealer (about $10-12) and seem to be a common replacement item. Very simple to change. As far as the compass reading, if the display shows a "C" this means it needs to be calibrated. This is done by simply driving in tight a circle for 1 to 3 complete circles to recalibrate. (Try a large empty parking lot. you may get dizzy)

Agreed. If cleaning contacts doesn't do it, just get a new sensor. It's like $10 or so at the dealer IIRC.

For the compass, if it ever says -C-, it needs recalibrated. To recalibrate it, find an empty parking lot free or large metal objects or overhead power lines and drive in a tight circle 3 times. This will automatically recalibrate it. You may have to adjust for magnetic north deviation. Instructions for that is in your owner's manual.
