just unscrew those slides and disconnect the connector on the back.

Re: door beeping help

Is your door out of adjustment or is the slider switch broken?

Re: door beeping help

While I'm no body man, I beleive you can adjust the door striker far enough so that your door can close all of the way. I would also check the door hinge itself as well as ensuring the slider switch is mounted securely as well. Mine was acting similar to yours. I was able to adjust the door striker so that my door closed securly.

Re: door beeping help

Just disconnecting it wont work... You have to splice the 2 wires together so its a constant circuit... So splice it off, and touch the wires together it should stop... I personally would just try and find out whats wrong and fix it tho...

Try pressing the slide with your hand, if the beeping stops its the door itself... If not, its the switch...

wut two wires r u taking about? the "door-a-jar" switch is a grounding switch. there is only one wire running to the switch. when the door is opened, the switch closes completely the circuit for the dome light on the ground side, and the light and "beeper" come on.

to answer the problem, it sounds like the door just simply isn't closing as far as it should be. the metal "u" shaped bracket (striker) in u'r door jam is adjustable. loosen the screws, and u can slide it a little which ever direction u want to move it. sounds like u'll need to slide it in toward the inside of the car, since u door isn't closing as far as it should be. that way the striker will hold it in more firmly.
it is posible that the switch is jacked up and it shorting itself to ground, but that's easy to tell. next time it's doing that while driving, just reach over and try pulling the door shut tighter and see if the dome light goes out.

i've always found the opposite trouble with those door-a-jar switches. mine wouldn't close fully to turn the dome light on. i just took them off, cleaned off the corrosion, lubed up the slides, and they work like champs.

Re: door beeping help

Yes your right... It is a grounding switch, I just went out and pulled mine apart... I figured it was a 2 terminal switch that supplied 12V to complete the circuit to the bulb...

Re: door beeping help

i had that problem. the pass door opened and the sound started. the door closed and it still beeped.

the beeping sound comes from the rear view mirror cover with the two seat belt lights. open up that part, unhook the wire to the small circuit board and there will be no more beep sound.

This is sort of true for when your seatbelt light stays on. The 3 beep sound for door ajar is different though because I've unplugged the plug above the rearview but if I have my keys in the ignition and open the passenger door, it'll still beep the door ajar beep...

If you're getting the door ajar beep when your door is shut then fix your door.

ok well i tried the peice in the door jam loosen it up and pushed in as close to the car as it would go so it would be tight when the door shut and that didnt work either, i think the person that had the car before me was hit on the side cause its a diffrent door on that side, and my key wont work on that side, but ive had the car for 6 years and it just started this. on that note, how reliable are the electric locks? ive really wanted to get those for a long time so i dont have to use my key. how ever i still want to have the key hole incase my battery dies or something gay like that. what all i will i need to convert my manual locks to power locks?
