a/c and cooling fans
I am a mechanic with some a/c experience. I have a 02 Rodeo with a 2.2 engine and auto trans. I am having problems with the a/c. When idling, the compressor- I think- starts chattering, there's a humming sound coming from around the glove box, and the air discharge inside the cab starts warming up. Driving down the road- 40+ mph, the a/c cools ok. I've searched other posts on this site and it seems the cooling fans may be the problem. The fans run while the engine is idling with the a/c on but the speed of the fans seems slow. I believe the fans have two speeds. If so at idle should they run faster with the a/c on? If they should - could the triple pressure switch be bad? BTW the system has the correct amount of freon.

Hey Mach 7
Sounds good that your a/c is working ok. I traded my Rodeo off a few days after I repaired the a/c. It seemed to be working fine but I was afraid it might give more problems. david |
