Thumbs down Removing the entire dashboard to change the A/C Evaporator into Plymouth Voyager 1995

Hi,

I just want to share my experience and my trouble shooting about my evaporator changing.

My A/C system was not working... Ive gone to Chrysler to check where was the problem... problem : Your evaporator is broken....

Cost for finding the problem : 240.00$ Cad (about 190.00USD)

----

Estimation : 1200$ (taxes included) for the evaporator and the installation....

I said no way... i found a brand new evaporator on e-bay for 100.00$USD and I decided to improvise myselft into a qualified evaporator changer....

MANNNNN, Don't try that at home! Sorry, but if you have time, go for it ITS SO LONG, You don't have any Idea!

i was thinking that the evaporator was easy to accees... Bulls**T... You need to remove the entire dashBoard...

I was thinking that the Dashboard was easy to remove..... AHHHHHHHHH,,, I'm into the 7hours of the job with one of my friend.... I don't know how to unscrew to remove the biggest part of the dash board.... My car is undriveable... the only thing remaning is the Stering Wheel.... OMG....

I've gone to Chrysler yesterday... they told me that i was very sick of doing that... the job was too difficult for me...

I know that i will be able to do this but I know that it will take me up to 20hours of jobs...

Qualified specialis takes 9 hours to do that...

I'm in half way of removing the evaporator and I have worked 7 hours...

If you have hint to give me if you have aleready done the job please give them to me....

This is aloso a waring for people who don't have time to put on that... Consider this job by Very Very Very difficult....

thanks, Simon

Simon--I don't have any experience with an evap. changeout. Does sound like a job you need the Chrysler Shop Manual sitting in front of you for. In some jobs, those manuals can save the day.

It's the reason why I purchased this crap of """Childston Plymouth voyager guide"""" With a book of 500 pages I think, Only 1 paragraph on evaporator....

They said : Remove the dash...

Where you go to the dash removing section they only talk about models of 1989 and lower....

i told you don't buy this guide... It's good for 1989 and lower models and they aded like 20 pages for the new models, thooses one that everebody haves...

Another example was for my Wipers... My right pivot was broken and in the Chlyston was telling me that I needed to unscrew the bolt into the wiper arm! In my 1995 it was clipped immagine now how can I trust this guide...

I have a lot more example like Air Bag Impact detector not present at the place they show... etc....

Where can I purchase the Chrysler Original Guide??? I think it will be more helpfull... Thanks...

Here is a link to the Chrysler site that sells service and owners manuals. You can also do a Google search for a manual as there is a lot of other places selling used ones.

Hope that helps
