It would be more trouble than what it is worth.

Re: make fake hood scoop work..?

yeah, i have a gt with a fake scoop too. and i think that second kit, the "march" (not mach) ram air, actually goes under the car, near the front bumper, and the rubber hose just directs the air onto the intake. i think..... there once was a thread on ram air, and how its all just a myth, u cant actually "ram" air into the engine. well... i hope that helps a lil, im too lazy to look for that thread, just go tho the search window and type ram air, u should find it

Re: make fake hood scoop work..?

When people say it is "functional" all they know is that there is a hole in it. I am not really impressed by a hole. I mean the Mach1 has a "functional" hood scoop that really offers nothing in performance value. I do think its cool, but in reality most of the air is being sucked in through a regular air box under the hood up by the passenger side headlight. I wouldn't spend money one putting a hole in your hood as it woudn't look any better and it wouldn't make you faster.

Re: make fake hood scoop work..?

what good is a hole in the hood. all that will do is push under the hood. its not like a working cawl hood on a classic car

Re: make fake hood scoop work..?

well... of course if u have a hole in ur hood and the scoop directs air into the hole, ur gonna get a lil more ventiletion to the engine. i know, its not like that gives u 20 extra horsepower! but maybe u could say it actually has a purpose... i get where ur comin from blaza. i thought about the same thing when i got my car...

now... a car where the scoop really does serve a kinda important purpose is on a wrx sti

Re: make fake hood scoop work..?

Air will not flow into the hood scoop, that is why it is a waste of time and money. It might be functional in that it can open, but that is about it. You will see zero increase in power, even at 120mph.

Re: make fake hood scoop work..?

research boundary layer aerodynamics. skyline usa is correct, you'll see little gain form a hood scoop that is so close to the surface of the hood (why do you think a top fuel drag race car's naca duct is so far above anything else?). in fact, if you are interested in hood scoops then you should research naca (not nasa) ducts as well. and about the subaru's hood scoops -- they only channel air across an intercooler, not into the intake; additionally their hood has a greater angle of attack than the mustang's. as for as the link that you supplied, that part mounts below the bumper.
