Do you have your remote wire hooked up to the battery too?
Why are you doing this?

Re: How do i hook this up?
I've done something like this... how did you hook up the battery charger to your system?
I think to do this you'll need to get a battery and hook it up... If I remember right when I did this, I used a CD player with a headphone jack output, which converted to RCA plugs which went in the amp... so I was only playing bass... no speakers or anything. How come you're doing this, just to test out your sub? |

Re: How do i hook this up?
i have a sony system, it come's with a 8" sub. its kinda gay. but if hooked up just right, you can make it turn the amp on. the only problem i seem to be having is power. i dont have a battery, which im trying to get one, but im doing this because my car is in the shop, and its been there for almost 2 months! so i have my amp and sub here. im bored and i want my room to bump! u know, something different. anyway does anyone know how to hook it up without a battery? just a charger? is the - on the battery, its a ground right?

Re: How do i hook this up?
Basically what you're gonna want to do is what Johannes said. I've done it before but with a Component system so I was able to have a full stereo. It is impossible to run it directly off of the charger because the charger does not supply a constant amount of voltage to the system. Chargers only supply a "trickle" of power so the battery can charge up overtime without overheating. You wanna do it without a battery, hang a lawnmower engine outside your window that is hooked up to an alternator lol!!! maybe it'll work. Peace-

Re: How do i hook this up?
nlghtcrawler, you might want to consider getting a deep cycle battery. I have one for my electric trolling motor... so if you're going to go and buy a battery anyways, you'll probably be better off spending a bit more for a deep cycle. They're used mainly for boating and stuff because they can handle hundreds of cycles of charges and full discharges. I think car batteries are only made to have a few cycles of full charges/discharges.

Re: How do i hook this up?
i got a battery!! it sucked ass! the one i got was DEAD as hell, a couple of cells were dead in it, but i heard a a small amount of bass thru my sub, will it do this due to lack of power?

Re: How do i hook this up?
Where did you get this dead battery from? It could have been from lack of power, I'm not sure. If the battery is still good, then you'll want to top up the cells with water (if that's what you're talking about) and give it a real good charge before you test it out...
How is your system set up anyways? Are you running it off a head unit, or a CD player? |

Re: How do i hook this up?
its hook up like this:
my CD Player (its a sony, 300 watts, has its own lil 8 inch sub) it only has one plug unlike a HU has 2. but then i get my battery: i hook my + & - then i hook up my power to turn the amp on to my 12V battery also (hope this wont mess anything up or im doing it right) then after that it dosnt sound very good, i read the tutoral here. im gonna go out and find myself an OLD computer so i can work on it i'll also need to find a sodering gun. but i think my system shoulda worked. dont u? oh btw the battery had water in it. then i charged it for about 2 hours, put it on a battery tester. then i came about below bad, it held almost no charge. that could have caused the low low sound right?

Re: How do i hook this up?
use an old PSU, i reas this last night then read frymans tut, i did it in about 10-15 minutes, i just have to lengthen the wires so i can hide the PSU and i want to mount my amp on my wall or some shit, and i need better speakers. but the PSU is the best way to go.
