Recall please help!!

okay i have a 91 chevy camaro rs and i read some place that there was a recall on it for the fuel filler neck...well i smell gas alot and first i thought i was just running rich but i tracked the smell to right inside the drivers side back wheel well....i have called two chevy dealerships around me and both said that they dont have one in the system and one told me that gm only offers recalls for ten years...i thought safety recalls dont expire..if someone could please help me figure this out my vin is 1g1fp23e1ml193233 . if someone could please help it would be much appreciated!

safty recals should not expire, ask the dealership for the phone number to their GM representative, and see what they have to say.

yeah i called gm and they say they dont show anything in the system for my car...but i smell gas from right at the filler neck at random times and thats what the recall says about it hold on heres the link to the recall http://www.isertive.com/php/NHTSA/au...&EModel=CAMARO

yea... there was a recall... GM always tries to deny you sevice on anything that is more than a few years old. I used to smell gas on my car too, even from the inside. Turned out that the gas cap almost always went on slightly crooked, after playin with it for a while I figured out how to put it on straight, which helped a little bit, but then I just bought a new gas cap with a seal that was a little bigger and it wasn't really a problem after that.

I wouldn't even bother with GM. But if you do... I would ask for the field service rep. anybody else won't know crap or will tell you the can't help you.

k ill try that but when i called gm they used the last eight of my vin and said they show no recalls or service bullitens for my car period that nothin came up in the system...that seems a little odd to me that they have not one thing in there about it. and i told them i could give them the number on the recall and they said they could only look up stuff w/ my vin..its pretty damned annoying

that's what they always do. notice how they will only say "I do not show any open bulletins in our system", or they say something to that effect. they never say that there were no recalls. i've tried to get them to say it... the always talk around it. this is how they legally turn you down for service without openly lying to you. they will only help you if you pressure them into it on issues this old.
