charging a/c unit
When we had a voyager it was easy to charge the a/c myself. Is the windstar any different? I bought the can with the hose and gave it a try but the system wouldn't take it. I may be off to the auto shop and let them have a look. If anyone has had any experience with charging windstar a/c units, let me know.

Re: charging a/c unit
I never had a problem. The trouble with mine was adding too much. Once I applied a gauge, all was well. It's good to vacuum it and give it a fresh charge every few years. The can should at least get cold when attached. If not, I would suspect that the hose connection is bad or the compressor has not engaged. If the latter, whack it with a broom end. If it engages, the clutch gap is too large. This is what happens on the Tauruses all the time from extended use. The gap is adjustable with shims. I expect the WStar is no different.
