Quick Brake Question...

ok, i need to know what 3000GT's came with what size rotors...

i think i remember reading that the 3000GT VR4 came with a 12.5" rotor...did all of the 3000GT's come with this rotor, or just certain years or models???

i am doing some experimenting with my 300zx brake system to see if i cant get some more leverage and better heat dissipation. 11" rotors just arent going to cut it...

thanks in advance

i've never actually measured the rotors, but i do know that the vr-4 and RT/TT rotors are much larger than the other cars. And definitely the brake calipers, which is why they often have clearance issures with their wheels, but the whole vr-4/rttt brake system is superior to the N/A's brake system in every way. Not sure what exactly your wanting, but your best bet is to check out their rotors first and see if thats what you are wanting.

i am pertty sure the VR4 came with a 12.5" rotor but i need to know which years so when i order the rotors i receive the right ones.

im thinking that the 99's came with 12.5" rotors but did any others?

91-93 rotor are smaller than the 94-99, but I do not know the sizes.

ok thank you...this helps a little more.

anyone feel free to add...upgrading brakes on the 3000gt must not be very popular.

94-end vr4/tt has 12.36in rotors on front

Re: Quick Brake Question...

The only brake upgrades most people do is to the 2nd Gen VR4 brakes. Not many people have a need for bigger. Hell most aftermarket brakes are barely any bigger, so If you get good pads and rotors its way cheeper for basicly the same effect.

Also, rear rotors on the 91-93 are the same no matter NA or VR4

if the 2nd gens went any bigger on brakes, they wouldn't be able to buy any wheels to clear those calipers lol

ahh...thanks a bunch, just the info i was looking for.

as for clearing wheels. my 300zx calipers are taller than the vr4 calipers and i could clear a 14" rotor with my 18" wheels. just a thought...but yeah, i always knew that the VR4 had a very good brake set-up to combat its weight. this is partly why im choosing the VR4 rotors to do my "mild" big brake kit.

note the "bigger" brake upgrade, granted you need the stock 18" wheels.

there you go...13.5" rotors. nice!!!

im sure if one did a little more research, you could find bigger and bigger rotors that come with the big brake kits.
