Re: gas mileage's on the firebirds...

I've got a 99 with a 3.8. I get about 20 city and upper 20's to 30 or 31 sometimes on the highway. Also the 3.8 calls for regular unleaded and the 5.7 wants a higher octane gas.

if you want a 3.8 you're going to need atleast a 98, before then was the 3.4

Re: gas mileage's on the firebirds...

The LT1 runs regular, however because of the high compression its always a good idea to run high octane due to the high compression ratio. Also the 3.8 was available starting 95, the 3.4 was discontinued in the F-body starting 96.

Re: gas mileage's on the firebirds...

My 1999 Trans Am got 31 MPG on the highway before the cam, 27 MPG after the cam.

Most recent mileage.....22.5 MPG mixed. That includes a couple WOT runs.
