Question 88 Astro Smoking

I just bought a 88 Astro with 156k miles on it. VIN# Z. Auto with AC. There was no knocking or pinging when I bought it, just a slight misfire. After getting it home and putting new spugs, wires, rotor cap and distributor cap I started to see fluid coming out the exhaust. So, I started to take it apart to change the head gaskets but, to make along story short the intake gasket was trashed. It was obviously where the fuild was coming from. So after putting it all back together it runs fine at both idle and when revved. The only problem is that there is a lot of what looks like white smoke coming out the exhaust. The timing sounds like it's good. Timing light died while sitting in the closet.
After putting it back together I did put a can of engine flush thru thru the motor but followed the directions exactly. Is there anything I can check or try without going out and buying a new timing light and/or computer code checker? Thanks

Re: 88 Astro Smoking

Sounds like your blown head gasket cracked a head to me. If you are still getting white smoke consistently from the exhaust you are getting coolant into the combustion chamber some how....
