Rear Sway Bar Dissconnects
I am running 4.5" of lift on 31's(05 Rubi). I have disconnects up front with adjustable l.c.a.'s front and back. adjustable track bar up front also. I have enough flex up front to tuck those all the way into the fender, i want the same in the rear. Here are the q's.
Is removing the rear sway bar a bad idea? I've seen it done, and the results are great. I am not so sure about the streetability of it. Does anybody make a set of rear sway bar disconnects that can actually be removed eassily? Any help is great. Thanks. |

I dunno that this would be the same but my buddies got an 89 YJ and he has no sway bar in the rear and never bought one equipped. Suposedly they take away flex and do absoluty nothing to handling because of the way Jeeps are made.

okay so I talked to buddy again and he said that you can take the sway bar off for trail rides but should leave it on for street or else it can flip because it has coils in the rear.
and he said they have to sell rear sway bar dissconects for an 05 rubi. |

Re: Rear Sway Bar Dissconnects
Track bar is useless on leaf spring set up, as far as I know, b/c the leafs keep it straight with axles. So I think you can just take it off. Sway bar is just a street driving thing, reduces body roll around corners. Just remove track bar, and get adjustable sway bar. Quadratech has some neat equipment.
Coils u need it then, leafs diff story |

wow..... sorry...... but wow...... A shackle basically holds one end of a leaf spring to the frame. Since the other end of a leaf spring is hard mounted to the frame this "shackle" moves foward and backward slightly as the leaf spring is "compressed and decompressed" for lack of better terms. It helps take pressure off the spring.

Re: Rear Sway Bar Dissconnects
Thats what I thought, just had to make sure. I always wondered. So its the front part of the front leaf, that hangs an inch or two down from frame? or is it the other end you can't see, under the heep (jeep), or both?
Spring Over Axle (SOA) also gains a few inches, anyone got a good after market place to buy the parts for a shade tree mechanic to weekend warrior it? |

Track bar is crucial on a Qudra Coil. Removing sway bars from an application increase flex by an outstanding amout. The fact that no one makes disconnects leads me to believe that it is not the most logical thing to do. I have driven my 05Rubi home a couple of times without the front sway bar connected, and it rides substantialy better. However, it floats on the road. I don't think the rear would be as bad.

The shackle is the part on the ends of the frame (that hangs down). You can easily see both the front (front springs) shackles and the rear (rear spring) shackles.

Re: Rear Sway Bar Dissconnects
shackle is the part that holds the end of the leaves that moves. Hanger is the other end of the leaves that does not "flex" like the shackle end.
