Replacing ignition switch?

I need to replace the keyed part of my ignition on my 96 GA. My question is do I need special tools to do this job and does anyone have tips on doing such a job? Thank to all who reply.

Re: Replacing ignition switch?

Yes, you will first need to disable the air bags so that you don't activate them. You will then need to remove the air bag from the wheel and use a wrench to remove the nut. You will need a steering wheel puller and a lock plate compressor to get the wheel off. Once that is done the rest is easy. You should be able to rent the tools from a local rental place or from Autozone.

Like GTP states. I would suggest let a pro deal with it, airbag modules aren't something to just go playing with.
