Question Gas Guage

I have an 89 F-150 300-6cyl, the gas guage keeps pegging out way over full when you turn the key on. So I ran all the wires down I checked the float in both tanks and nothing is physicaly worng, so I had a friend to come over with a multi-meter and check volts, ohms, resistance etc, and everything checked fine. But now that I've put everything back together without takeing ANY wires lose the hand will only pegg now when you mash the brake petal, yet still dosn't read right without being on the brake. Any suggestions will be most helpful, thanks for your input.

Re: Gas Guage

Do what I used to do. Just run it 200 miles and then fill up the tank..
