Air intake system

i'm looking to upgrade my air intake and don't know if I should go with a cold or warm air system. I live in MI and it gets as cold as -20 degrees in winter and up to 90 degrees in summer here. what are the pros and cons of each? and brand recommendations?

Adding a cold air system will not really matter for MI (temp wise) as the factory setup is a cold air system (draws air from behing the left headlight). Its just that the factory setup is restrictive, and the aftermarket flows much better.

Gains from this are marginal, I have yet to see anybody who put one on gain anything (power wise) to make it really worth it (unless you have or are planning other mods as well).

Funny thing about the cold air intakes is that the factory Throttle body has coolant running through it to actually heat up the air for colder climates...LOL.

So, don't worry about the temp as long as you leave the TB alone... But then the intake will basically only give you a Visual improvement with a nicer sound. The extra flow might help, if your engine needs more than the factory setup can deliver.

If you bypass that coolant line around the TB (I did and it does make a small difference) you'll notice more gain with the aftermarket setup, but then you might have problems in the winter. I don't notice any problems with mine as the temp never goes below 40deg.

Good Luck.
