turbo an SE-R??

heyy ive been looking into buy a 200sx se-r but the thing is all the ones i have found have over 100K miles on them or are right around that mark. so i was wondering if i were to buy one of these, would it be wise to set up turbo on the sr20de engine with such high miles? i need the car to last a while but i certainly dont want a slow 15 sec car either, im looking to mod the car to get it into the mid 13's. so to do this what kind of turbo set up would you reccomend on a engine with such mileage and about how long do you think the engine would last? thanks alot

btw if anyone knows of an SE-r in the md/va/dc area let me know!!

Re: turbo an SE-R??

the more power you make the shorter it will last
i would get a turbo kit and boost 6 psi
you wont be disappointed by the speed, and your engine should last a bit still. you may not be in the 13s but you will still smoke most cars out there

Re: turbo an SE-R??

alright thanks, now another question, would it be cheaper to buy a turbo set up, or to just swap engines with the sr20det? because ive seen some turbo kits for like 3500 where as a sr20det complete swap package for around 2000... but im clueless to the cost of labor for the swap...

Re: turbo an SE-R??

Go to www.jgycustoms.com and get the T-25 turbo kit. It's only $1800 and you'll be hitting high 13's with bolt-ons. Don't worry about the mileage, I've seen plenty of DE's beginning their boosted life at over 125k. The thing you should be worried about is your tranny. If you plan ono boosting over 9-10psi, you'll need to do some tranny work. But otherwise, and decently taken care of DE should handle boost no problem, as long as it doesn't have any internal damage or knocking.
