transmission problem

I have a 01 grand am se 4cyl, and I'm havin transmission problems. If I'm driving down the road and have to make a sudden stop and begin to accelerate afterwards, my car would start fluttering and moves slowly. If I'm coming out of the driveway driving normally and I have to stop before I get to the road, my car would act as if it dont want to stop even when I press the brake pedal. The rpms will stay the same and the it would suddenly drop as soon as a big jerk motion is made (all while the brake pedal is pressed. could someone please let me know what the problem may be.

I'm a little lost in the problem you are experiencing. Are you having problems accelerating and are you having hard shifts or delayed shifting? Since you were saying about the car not wanting to stop as well? you may want to look into other things such as the fuel system ( fuel filter, etc), air filter, or maybe even the spark plugs/wires. A little side note, I'm not sure how familiar you are with the car, but there is no dipstick to check the tranny fluid like the previous post suggests.
