91 Bonne map and DIS

My dad has a 91 Bonne SSE which has the map and the driver information center. Well needless to say neither of these work. He says "SOMETIMES" when he firt starts the car he can see the map barely. When he first purchased this car(used) they both worked. What and where can I start to look to trouble shoot these ?

The problems are usually found in the clusters themselves. More specifically, the compass and DIC boards. I haven't been able to find any information or schematics on them so I'm still in the same boat.

The problem is that it could also be the DIC module. Some of the control for both VFD displays comes from here. I have considered buying a couple clusters from some locak junkyards but they would have to be pretty darn cheap cause they just might not work either.
