Question Mustang drag launches

Ok from what ive read from other racers and tuners alike that a poorly launched mustang will loose alot of time on 1/4 mile. so i was wondering whats the technique? i have a FWD and i just rev up and drop the clutch yeah theres some wheel bounce but it usually outweighs the torque problems in my stupid NA eclipse. anyways im going to drive a friends mustang and i wanna know how its done for those cars i think its a 2004 4.8 or 4.6 whatever they V8 is now.

Re: Mustang drag launches

you have to slip the clutch and probably short shift into 2nd. If you just dump the clutch in a mustang on street tires you'll just roast the rears and the back end might kick out.

Re: Mustang drag launches

just standard tires and say no burnout....like if it were a street race.

Re: Mustang drag launches

i would say roughly 3000 it depends on how much you like the clutch, and "ideal" launch has a "minimal" amount of wheelspin just enough to keep the engine from bogging with a high hp rwd yu usually end up doing a smoke show if you give it too much, so i would say slip th clutch and help him out with installing a new one when he needs it lol o and have ful
