Hello:
My power windows are pretty much worthless. I left rear passenger window completely does not work. Specifically speaking, the window does not stay in place and falls down through the door and I have to keep taping it on to stay in place. I believe the alligator clips have become broken on them. To make this matter worse, before the window even became displaced, the switch to the same window stopped working, or it fried/fused out. I was only able to manage it from the driver access switch (in front console). How easy is this repair to do...basically should I get a Bentley Publishing repair manual and see how to make the clips hang on to my window? I don't necessarily care if the electrical door switch works (due to $$$ constraints), but I do want it to stay in place. Any comments anyone??? |

You will probably need a new window regulator - about 130 from vw
Check the wires for the door harness at the door hinge. There is a black rubber boot, pull it back from the door side and check to see if the wires are frayed. This is a big problem on all 94-99 jetta/golf.
