97 Accord Speaker question

Hey everyone,

I would like to replace my front door speakers for my 97 Honda Accord but I am totally naive as to what type/size these are or who the manufacturer of these speakers is..I was told it may be Pioneer but not really sure. Also, is there a diagram that anyone can direct me to that shows the how-to on the installation of these speakers? If anyone knows the size of the rear speakers that would be great.

Thanks for your help.

for the front it is 6 1/2 which is a round speaker. for the rear it depends on the trim level of the car. lx and dx are 6 1/2 as well and the ex and v6 are 6x9 which is an oval type of speaker. if you are going to change your speakers it doesn't matter what the old ones are.

Re: 97 Accord Speaker question

the lx model are 6x9. i have an lx coupe, 1997. i am in the process of looking for new speakers as well. the guy at a shop said they were 6 1/2 all around. i questioned him and we went out and looked at the rear speakers. he was amazed that he got it wrong. my suggestion, go out and look at the rear ones, if they are ovals then they are 6x9, if they are circles they are 6 1/2. as far as brands, infinity are nice, some people claim that the highs are too much though. my advice, go and listen and pick whatever sounds best to you.

Re: 97 Accord Speaker question

in order to get to the front speakers you need to take the entire door panel off. if you have a haynes/chilton manual i'm sure it will tell you how to do it in there. if not then do a little research on the web on how to remove the door panels. i tried to take the front speaker out without taking off the panel and i could not get to the upper left screw to fully get the speaker out. i know that there are screws underneath the door handle where the windows switches are. there is another screw behind the door handle to open the door. there should be a little cover that you pop off with a flat head screwdriver. i can't remember where the others screws are right now.
