Japan...

Does anyone know how much engines would cost in Japan? Particularily the SR20, but I was just curious. Also, how much would it cost to ship it back here? I am asking because my girlfriends cousin is stationed in Okinawa and I want to look into actually trying to get me an engine. lol. I know I am wishful thinking, but it sure would be sweet.

Re: Japan...

well from what i hear, its a lot cheaper because your buying JDM parts in JAPAN, its just the shipping that sux. I think you could get the whole s13 front for like $300 or something like that. Anyway thats what i heard. Anyone else.....?

Re: Japan...

$300 seems rather cheap for a front clip. Taking a look at yahoo auctions, seems like there's stuff from a 500 for just the engine.

http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g32934808
And isn't shipping really cheap because it's APO or something? My friend used to be in Japan and I remember he was basically only paying as if he was shipping w/in the US....not really sure how it works though.

Re: Japan...

the sr20's been around way too long to be expensive in japan. The price you pay for a sr here... you can get yourself a rb25 clip easily...

Re: Japan...

apo shipping works like this, my address is a po box in the states ( not really a po box cause companys that say they dont ship to po boxes will ship to this one ) and once an item gets to that box the military takes over the shipping of it, I belive it is the same going back for small items, if ya shipping a crate tho it might be a bit more :P

Re: Japan...

To tell you the truth, I don't care how much shipping would cost (within reason), it would still be way cheaper then paying 2500 for a S14 SR20. I could go there, pay maybe $800 to $1000 for the whole swap (if that), then ship it for like $600, man, that would be awsome.

Id put all the small items in one case, turbo piping manifold and intercooler in another, and a few more cases with the rest of the parts, and then get a huge box for the block and ship it back....lol, it would be funny to see what they said...."is that a bomb0¿!!!!"
