Riding in the rain

Just wondering what people think about riding in the rain?
I dont mind, i ride my bike every day rain hail or shine. Ive been in terentual rain and 100 kph winds over the west gate bridge which is pritty big. I was leaning right over just to keep the bike in a straight line. When i got home i wotched the news and saw that a truck had tipped over like 5mins after i had gone over it. After that i thought wow maby next time i will go around, which takes bout 20mins longer but alot safer.

Re: Riding in the rain

I hate rain riding. I only ride in fair weather, but I dont have to ride to commute, so its all fun riding when I go out. Wet leathers suck majorly, and D208GP's arent good rain tires, so I park when its raining unless im at the track.

i love the rain!

i find i ride harder because i'm more in-tune with whats happening and not day dreaming about the hottie in the convertable next to me.

and plus, how downright sexy are wet weather suits. i mean come on theres something about being wrapped in PVC from head to toe..... oops my bad wrong forum .......

Re: Riding in the rain

Im guessing you dont do any sport riding if you're daydreaming while you ride.

i work 6 days and use my bike to commute to my second job.

the only "sport riding" i do is at the track. if by sport riding you mean riding hard on nice roads.

oh and for the 6km of long winding road to my house at the end of the dead end rural road. i get to do that one every day.... twice

Ahh, I see. Watch out for those hotties in convertables, though, they're a leading cause of crashes worldwide due to target fixation.

Re: Riding in the rain

I spent about 100 miles in WV twisties in the rain... it SUCKED. SUCKED!!! Although, I did look damn cute with my purple and black rain gear on.

I prefer to ride when it's nice out. My car is for commuting, my bike is for fun and relaxation.

Re: Riding in the rain

I have been stuck in the rain... The rain sucks. It is do-able, but no fun. (Even in my raingear - still sucks!)

Re: Riding in the rain

I just have a crappy rubberized rain suit I bought for when I was taking the MSF course... it threatened to rain every day we rode. Oh well. It is being held together by duct tape b/c it kinda was driven over by many people on the Veteran's Bridge in Pittsburgh one night a few years back... okay 3 years ago.

Rain Rain Go Away, Come Back Another Day!

I ride my bike everyday as well...its my only vehicle. Rain sucks but I have to agree with one of the other posts. When it rains I feel more alive on my bike. Of course I have a litte 650 cruiser so...its not the same Btw, hurricane season in south florida SUCKS to have to ride a bike in...one minute its beautiful...then BAM...your soaked. Its all about the Frogg Toggs...breaths easier then Gortex and nylon-type-things and keeps you 100% dry....except the feet.....

I had my first encounter with rain a few days ago, and I'll have to say, it was definately one of those "gut check" situations. I was slowing down and all a sudden I was getting that loose backend, and hard to control steering feelings kinda like when you hit some gravel. Kinda freaked me out a bit. Needless to say, I drove like a grandma until I got home.

Re: Riding in the rain

Paint and tar strips in the rain are your WORST ENEMY!!! So are leaves and grass clippings...
