Mine did the same. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the dash switch. The said it could of also been a part on the transmission but mine turned out to be a dash switch.
What year is your suburban? Ours first flashed on a road trip, I pushed the on-star button and spoke with an advisor who put me in contact with a service manager who reasured me that we could go on with our trip and to have it checked out when we got home to our dealer. As normal we got busy and it was several months before we got it in to be fixed. As best as I can remember the system reverts to 2 wd if it goes totally belly up. Depending on your system it might or might not be the same. Best of luck.

My service 4 wheel drive light is on again Dont really know where to start Dashboard switch has lights on but only changes to 4HI or 4 LO if you press the buttons a lot then its a pain to get back to 2 HI..
Can someone point me where to look Could it be the dashboard switch How can I test it... Also is there a tool for the servce 4 wheel drive light to get the fault codes? I really appreciate any help on this. Bill.... |

If you read all the posts on the subject, you will find that the solder joints on the back of the switch is the problem. I decided to just replace the switch, but some have resoldered and the switch has been fine. This is a pretty common problem. //2000CAYukon |
