Smile 7 months later.. got my alarm/keyless entry working!

It's funny the things you can do when you're just being an idiot, lol.

When I purchased the car in November the keyless entry did not work at the time because the battery in the remote was apparently dead according to the salesguy (which didn't make sense since it seemed to light up properly.) I wasn't stressing too much about it at the time because I was planning to put an aftermarket system in later down the line.

About 3-4 months later I actually decided to purchase a new battery for the hell of it. After the switch, it still didn't work.

I showed it to a coworker of mine that does car installation at the Best Buy we work at. This guy has done everything from custom audio/video to alarms, from geo metros to lambos, but even he couldn't get it to work after attempting to reprogram it. He said the console was probably shot. At that point I basically gave up on the entire keyless system.

It began annoying me at this point because after the past winter my driver door lock ceased so I was and still am forced to unlock from the passenger side. Some suggested WD40 in the lock but I have yet to try that.

Skip to today: I was going through all the little manuals/warranties in my glove box to find the installation manual. I skip to the reprogram section where it says to turn the ignition off-on 5 times. I already seen my coworker attempt that and other things, but I figured "hey, what the hell." Low and behold after the 5th time and leaving it on the "on" position I hear a..............CHIRP !!! I scramble to the key and hit the large button to affiliate the remote to the system and...... CHIRP !!! Could I have really done it all myself? I proceed to jump out of the car as quickly as possible to test it only to be shot back into my seat like a slingshot! ........my seatbelt was still on

I slowly get out this time, close the door... hit the button -> chirp *doors lock*... hit it again -> double chirp *doors unlock*. Yay !!

And that is my story for the day... you must excuse my excitement given the fact that most of you probably had keyless working from the get-go, lol, but this surprised me because I was just messing around with it.

Thanks for listening

Heh, nice! I don't know if I could live without keyless entry. Isn't it great?
