can anyone tell me if I can pull the front axels

I have a 1994 bravada the smart track transfer case case has siezed up, (the viscious clutch lost its fluid?) any way that turned it into a full time 4 wheel drive, so I pulled the front drive shaft on it and it is not worth it to make to repair so I will just keep it as a 2 wheel drive. Now the front transfer case has started leaking. My question is Can I pull the front half shafts out and the transfer case off of it and use it that way? is there a seal in the front wheel bearing that the shaft holds into place?

I have a '94 also and have pulled the front half shafts. However, I disassembled the CV joints on the wheel end of the shafts and reinstalled the spline shaft with the nut that goes through the wheel bearing. You will need this piece to seal dirt from the bearings at least.

Do you have a problem with the vehicle rolling away when in park? Mine will roll away now due to the viscous clutch in the transfer case. Maybe yours does not roll due to your siezed clutch?

I pulled my front drive shaft off so the clutch dosent do anything anymore and I dont have problem with it rolling away, how hard it is to dissassemble the cv joints?

Getting the half shafts out of the vehicle is the hardest part. You must have enough room to get the splined part out of the wheel hubs and this is quite a lot of room. I think I might have had to take the upper or lower ball joint loose to be able to accomplish this. Once out, cut the boot off and have fun with all that nasty grease. I think you have to remove a snap ring at the end of the axle shaft that you can reach by twisting the assembly and then remove the axle shaft. Rotate the cage with the balls so one ball is facing out and pry it loose. Work your way around and pry enough balls loose and the cage and remaining balls will come out. Replace the seal at the inside of the wheel bearing, reassemble and your done. I don't think you can get the front differential out without engine removal. Getting to the front nuts inside the frame that hold it in can be done.

Your's doesn't roll due to the siezed viscous clutch. I'll trade you my working clutch for your siezed one.
