hello everyone ive been amazed at all the snart responses from people like gtpdad and others so lets see if my problem can be solved i checked all fuses good new battery good also changed a neutral safety just for sake of 15.00$ no luck i did remember i short out a connector near my hood release with a screw driver thanks for looking

You didn't mention trying new back up bulbs??????

Reverse lights
oh yea did that too it seemed obvious id try that first but no luck need to find a relay im sure

I don't have schematics for a 97 but the 2001 schematics i have show the reverse lights being fed directly from the BCM(no relays). I believe the input to the IPM(which talks to the BCM) is from the "transmission range sensor" Which I'm guessing is the part you changed already? Recheck your connections. The reverse lights use a common ground with the other rear lights, so if your other lights are good, I'll assume your ground is good. You didn't just change some other bulbs prior to the reverse lights going out? One other thing you can try is disconnect battery for 10 minutes, make sure post connections are clean and tight when you reconnect and test. If all fails, it's time to get the meter out and trace you B+ from your reverse lights back to the BCM.
